Modern Scribe Returns Policy

We want you to love your Modern Scribe order. Every product is created with care, and we hope it arrives in perfect condition. If there’s ever an issue, here’s how our returns and refunds process works.

Non-personalised items

Non-personalised items — such as inks and other calligraphy supplies from the Student Shop — may be returned in unused condition within 14 days of delivery, provided they’re not custom-mixed, opened, or otherwise made unsuitable for resale.

Please contact studio@modernscribe.co.uk to begin your return and confirm eligibility before posting anything back.

Customers are responsible for return postage unless the item is confirmed faulty. We recommend using a tracked postal service, as we can’t accept liability for lost parcels.

Personalised kits

Our calligraphy course kits are personalised to each student and created individually for each order. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, personalised goods are exempt from cancellation and refund rights.

That means once a kit has been prepared, it cannot be returned or refunded.

If an individual item within a kit is found to be faulty, our policy is to repair or replace the affected item only. This does not entitle the customer to a refund or return of the full kit.

We take these rare cases of a faulty item seriously and handle them as swiftly as possible. Please email studio@modernscribe.co.uk if you experience any issues with your kit at all.

Digital products

Access to our online courses and pre-recorded tutorials is provided immediately after purchase. Because digital content cannot be “returned” once accessed, refunds are not available for these products.

If any technical issue prevents access to purchased tutorials, please contact studio@modernscribe.co.uk. We will promptly fix any access issue and ensure course materials can be viewed again without interruption.

How to return an eligible item

  1. Email studio@modernscribe.co.uk with your order number and the item you’d like to return.

  2. We’ll confirm eligibility and provide the correct return details.

  3. Pack the item securely and send it using a tracked service.

  4. Once we’ve received and checked your return, we’ll confirm by email.

Refunds for eligible items are issued to the original payment method and may take up to five working days to appear in your account once processed.
