1. About Modern Scribe
Modern Scribe (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a creative calligraphy business based in the United Kingdom. Our principal activity is the provision of educational calligraphy courses, both digital and physical, including associated course kits.

2. Use of the Website
This website and its content are provided for lawful purposes only. You agree not to misuse the site or its content, interfere with its security features, or engage in any activity that could damage or impair its function.
All materials, including text, video, images, and downloadable content, are the intellectual property of Modern Scribe and may not be copied, reproduced, or distributed without prior written consent.
3. Products and Services
Modern Scribe offers:
Digital products (pre-recorded educational course materials).
Physical products (personalised calligraphy kits supplied as part of course enrolment).
Student Shop items (calligraphy supplies such as inks, nibs, and accessories, available for purchase by existing students).
We reserve the right to amend course details, materials, or prices at any time without prior notice.
4. Orders and Payments
All orders must be placed through our official website, www.modernscribe.co.uk.
Payments are processed securely through Squarespace Payments or PayPal. Squarespace Payments may also facilitate transactions made using Apple Pay or Google Pay, which operate under the same secure payment framework.
We do not store or have access to your full payment details.
Your order is confirmed once payment has been successfully received and an order confirmation email issued.
5. Products and Refunds
Non-personalised items
Non-personalised items — such as inks and other calligraphy supplies sold through the Student Shop — are eligible for return in unused condition within 14 days of delivery, provided they are not custom-mixed, opened, or otherwise made unsuitable for resale. Customers must contact us at studio@modernscribe.co.uk before returning any item to confirm eligibility.
Personalised Items
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, personalised goods are exempt from cancellation and refund rights.
All Modern Scribe course kits are personalised to each student and therefore cannot be returned or refunded once payment has been made.
This exemption applies to both physical and digital course components. By purchasing, you acknowledge and accept this condition in full.
If an individual item within a kit is found to be faulty, our policy is to repair or replace the affected item only. This does not entitle the customer to a refund or return of the full kit.
6. Course Access
Access to pre-recorded tutorials is granted for the duration stated at purchase. Login credentials or access links are for your personal use only and may not be shared or distributed.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, including but not limited to course videos, written materials, kit designs, images, and brand assets, remain the sole property of Modern Scribe.
You may not reproduce, publish, transmit, distribute, or otherwise exploit any part of the materials without written permission.
8. Limitation of Liability
While we take every care to ensure accuracy, Modern Scribe does not guarantee that the information provided on this site or within course materials is free from error.
We accept no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from use of the website, products, or services.
9. Links to Third Parties
This website may contain links to third-party sites such as PayPal, Squarespace, or Meta. These links are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales in relation to any dispute.
